Meet Janus-1
JANUS-1 is a software-defined 6U demonstration satellite created entirely on the Antaris software platform. It was designed and built in just 10 months with payload providers from seven countries at a cost savings of 75% over comparable satellite missions.
The Antaris platform made it all possible.
Why is JANUS-1 special?
From concept to launch readiness, JANUS-1 was completed in a record pace of just 10 months. No other modern commercial satellite of this size and complexity has been conceived, designed and manufactured in the cloud in this short of a timeline. Upon launch, the Antaris platform will be used to operate and manage the satellite in orbit.
What companies are involved?
XDLINX Labs and Ananth Technologies served as the primary manufacturing partners for the JANUS-1 satellite and ATLAS Space Operations will provide ground station services. A number of payload and subsystem providers from around the world are also involved in this historic mission.
When will JANUS-1 go into orbit?
A virtual twin of JANUS-1 running on Antaris TrueTwin™ technology was ‘in flight’ in our lab for months, and the physical satellite successfully launched into orbit from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre of India on February 10, 2023.
